Corp. to Symantec Corp. posted higher-than-estimated earnings, while 


Treasuries snapped a six-day slide and the dollar weakened as the Federal 


Reserve sought input from bond dealers about the size of asset purchases.

Oct. 27 (Bloomberg) -- Orders for U.S. non-military capital equipment excluding airplanes dropped in September, indicating gains in business investment will cool.

Sprint Nextel Corp. slumped 7.5 percent after posting a wider-than-estimated loss. Alcoa Inc. dropped 1.2 percent, following metal prices lower. ConocoPhillips fell 1.9 percent as crude oil halted a three-day advance. Broadcom Corp. jumped 8.5 percent as quarterly revenue beat analysts’ predictions.
