Nov. 1 (Bloomberg) -- Manufacturing in the U.S. expanded in October at the fastest pace in five months as measures of production and orders placed with factories increased.

The Institute for Supply Management’sfactory index increased to 56.9 from 54.4, the Tempe, Arizona-based group said today. Readings greater than 50 signal growth, and the median forecast of economists surveyed by Bloomberg News was for a decline to 54. Orders and production increased to the highest levels since May

I really like CNN's Heroes  [Videos] competition. It is a sign of the interest in good causes the national media have taken in recent years. I also like it because it honors a specific person, who is often the founder of a nonprofit, and his/her commitment, despite great odds, to helping others.



CNN Heroes [Videos] cannot nominate themselves for this recognition. But rather, someone else who admires the person or organization or cause must do the nominating. All qualifying Heroes receive a lot of promotion through CNN and, in addition, generally receive a lot of attention from their own hometown media.

In 2010, the fourth year of the Heroes program, CNN received more than 10,000 submissions from more than 100 countries. Many of these have been spotlighted during the year on the cable channel. A panel of judges then picked the top ten Heroes. Top 10 CNN Heroes are featured on CNNheroes.com - online voting by the public will determine the CNN Hero of the Year.

All Top 10 CNN Heroes will each receive $25,000 and will be honored at CNN Heroes: An All-Star Tribute, hosted by CNN anchor Anderson Cooper that will air on Thanksgiving, November 25th at 8pmET/5pm PT from the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. At the November gala, CNN will reveal the CNN Hero of the Year, who will receive an additional $100,000.

BULL TRAP

A failed signal is among the most reliable of all chart signals.
When a market fails to follow through in the direction of a chart
signal, it very strongly suggests the possibility of a significant
move in the opposite direction.  For example note how the market abruptly reversed course after breaking out above the early high.  If the upside penetration signal were valid, the market should not  have retreated back to the lower portion of the consolidation and certainly not below its lower boundary,  The fact that such a retracement occurs almost immediately following the breakout  strongly suggests a "BULL TRAP"

semiconductors and cars as they invest in equipment and build stockpiles, 

while also keeping a tight rein on payrolls, reports today showed.

The trade deficit widened 8.8 percent to $46.3 billion in August from 

$42.6 billion the prior month as a rise in imports swamped gains in exports, 

Commerce Department figures showed today in Washington. The number of 

Americans filing claims for jobless benefits unexpectedly climbed by 13,000 to 

462,000 last week, according to the Labor Department.
